HELLO!
I just got back from my travels to Kampala, Uganda and Cape Town, South Africa on a trip for Northwestern. It was quite different traveling on someone else's tab (ie..staying in hotels and not grungy hostels- moving up in the world!) The trip was quite hectic and rushed - but great nonetheless. Uganda, itself, was amazing - incredibly beautiful and lush (near the equarter) and more developed than I had expected. It was surprisingly much safer than South Africa and the people were all very welcoming. I was able (in addition to "work") visit Jinja (the source of the Nile river), various waterfalls, markets, try lots of foods that i probably shouldn't have (right, dad)... and be taken around by friends & family of a mutual Ugandan friend of mine in Chicago.enjoying a delicious fish meal on lake victoria (kampala)

PART II: South Africa
In South Africa I was in Stellenbosch (a town outside Cape Town) for much of the trip visiting Stellenbosch University (I actually studied there myself 4 years ago.) I rounded up my trip with some time in Cape Town (visiting students/professors at University of Cape Town) and was able to meet up with some old friends, gorge myself with seafood and good wine, and hit up the markets.
back to reality....
