Lou Says Hi!

Given the dismal weather over the weekend, seeing Lou Holtz during some pre-ND game tailgating was definitely a highlight. I wanted to get a picture with him but decided to let the poor man get in his car before harassing him further. But clearly I wasn't beyond whipping out the Blackberry camera for a stalker photograph!

Save the Date!

Just wanted to let you crazy kids know that the wedding dates have been set. Mark your calendars! Emily and Jim will be tying the knot on January 3, 2009 (in Chicago). Ryan and I will be getting married on August 29, 2009 (also, in Chicago). Both should be a fabulous time (though I don't expect to have as much "fun" as the chick pictured to the left!).

Urban Living

That's right folks! Ann & Brian will be saying their goodbyes to Naper-thrill in late June! But fear not, you can still raid their fridge and use their free laundry facilities (free for you! Right, Maggie?) in their new Chicago townhouse (located in River North for you locals!) starting in late July!

May Fest

This past weekend was the annual May Fest celebration in Lincoln Square. After spending Saturday morning helping Emily move, we headed out to spend some time outside enjoying the weather and the festival. We also played some carnival games. John, Elizabeth and Maggie played competitive games and won prizes. I wanted to be sure to get a prize, so I played a game meant for 4-year olds where you were guaranteed to get a prize. (I realize this was a little ridiculous.) But I walked away with a big furry frog.

Elizabeth at the carnival.

After the festival became too crowded and we had just been there too long we walked up Lincoln to a karoake bar called The Hidden Cove. I don't usually sing, but Emily talked me into it. We sang Take a Chance on Me by Abba.

For everyone who missed out - don't dismay. There will be another German festival in late September. Jeff's parents will likely be visiting us that weekend and we will be sure to go.

In other news, Jeff starts his new job tomorrow! And he shaved his beard!

Mother's Day Weekend in Indiana

Jeff and I went to Fort Wayne and Richmond, IN for Mother's Day weekend.

Other news and tidbits you may have heard, but maybe not:

1. Elizabeth got a new job at Deloitte consulting. Congratulations for successfully making it through a very thorough interview process!

2. Jeff got a new job. He'll be working for the Chicago Park District and starts on June 2nd.

3. Aunt Ann and Uncle Brian are moving to the city!!

4. Aunt Katy is moving to a new apartment at the end of the month.
5. Laura's playing at a bar called Sylvie's next Thursday at 8pm. I highly recommend everyone come check out Air Hearts. They also recently recorded a demo in a real studio, so we can look forward to hearing that soon.

6. Rivers can now sit up all by himself.

7. Emily is moving at the end of the month. Save up any boxes because she might need them.

I can't think of anything else right now, but please post any news you might have.

Henry Says Hello from Down South

Last weekend Jeff and I went down to Mississippi to visit Henry and my Dad. They are both doing well and say hello. We met Henry's girlfriend, Shannon. She's very sweet and fun to talk to. I hope you all all get the chance to meet her soon. I'm definitely looking forward to spending more time with her. We spent the weekend catching up and got a chance to see Henry's apartment, where he works and what he's been up to. It sounds like his job is going very well. He's decided to specialize in volkswagons. There is a lot of training involved and he expects to be traveling throughout the spring to Atlanta and somewhere in California for more classes. He is still an avid Detroit Redwings fan and we watched some hockey playoffs over the weekend. He says he hopes to visit us all soon. The weather was beautiful and it was a good trip overall.

Sarah and Rivers Visit Chicago

Sarah and Rivers visited this weekend and we had so much fun! Rivers is absolutely adorable and such a happy baby.

Aunt Laura and Rivers

Rivers takes a bath in the sink.

Rivers gets ready to go run errands.

Tom spends some time with his second cousin once removed.

Thanks to everyone for coming over on Saturday. I'm so sorry dinner took so long. Next time I will be sure to get the temperature right on the oven.

Air Hearts

Laura's new band/duo Air Hearts debuted last Thursday at a bar called Olivia's. Even though it was a mid-week gig I decided to go and was very impressed. Laura's songs sound great accompanied by her drummer, Dan.

Rivers is growing up

I can't believe how fast he's growing. He weighs over 16 lbs and is more than 2 ft tall. He eats like a little monster and we're starting him on solids this week.
